Elections

Elections for the all members of the DSC are held at the beginning of each spring term. A special election is held each September to elect the representatives of the first-year MCP class.

The positions available are listed below. With the exception of the PhD, MCP1, and Undergrad positions, any student in the department may run for any position. Note that DSC boards are elected for calendar years, not academic years.


Roles

DSC Co-Chairs

These positions are open to undergraduate, MCP, and PhD students on the DSC Board and are elected internally. The co-chairs act as the primary face of the DSC Board and are responsible for verifying that tasks are completed in a timely manner. They are the primary liaison between the board and the student body, and between the board and various faculty members, including the head of the department and the dean of the School of Architecture and Planning.

DSC Representatives-At-Large

These positions are open to undergraduate, MCP, and PhD students. Collectively, the Representatives-At-Large generally takes on the roles of secretary, treasurer, APA rep, community liaison, and curriculum contact.

PhD Representatives

These positions are open to PhD students. The PhD representative acts as the primary liaison between the PhD students and the DSC, and represents their interests. The PhD representative also assists with general board duties.

MCP1 Representatives

This position is open to first-year MCP students and is a one-term position. The MCP1 representatives act as the primary liaison between the first-year class and the DSC, and represents their interests. The MCP1 representatives also assist with general board duties.

Undergraduate Representative

This position is open to undergraduate students. The undergraduate representative acts as the primary liaison between the undergraduate students and the DSC, and represents their interests. The undergraduate representative also assists with general board duties.
